FOUCHÉ JOSEPH: (1759-1820) - FOUCHÉ JOSEPH: (1759-1820) Convention Deputy and Minister of Police. A good D.S., Fouché , one page, folio, Paris, 2 nd November 1804, to Hubert Rohault, on the Ministry of the general Police printed stationery, in French. The partially printed document, being a pass or passport, bears a large and attractive French Revolution vignette to the heading with the printed heading `Au Nom de l´Empereur des Français´ (`In the Name of the Emperor of the French´). The document orders anyone to let Hubert Rohault, student of the architecture academy, pass and return freely to France. The document further lists a full detail and description of Rohault, including his age, height, beard, eyes colour, description of nose, mouth and chin, etc… Countersigned by a general secretary of the Ministry. The pass bears to the front a red ink stamp of the General Police of the French Empire. Bearing also to the verso an annotation signed by a commissair of Turin, the city from where Rohault departed on his way back to Paris, with a second red ink stamp of the General Police of the French Empire. Overall age wear with few small tears to edges and few large water stains, mostly to borders, not affecting the text or signature. G
