An excellent L.S., ` Bonaparte ´, one page, 4to, Sedan, 9 th August 1803, to Consul Jean-Jacques Régis de Cambacéres, in French. The letter bears an attractive Republican vignette to the heading, stating `Au nom du Peuple Français - Bonaparte Consul de la République”. The letter dictated by Napoleon is in the hand of Meneval. Napoleon states ` Je pars dans une heure pour Rheims, Citoyen Consul. Je suis tres content des manufactures de cette ville. Je le suis beaucoup de son esprit. Toutes les nouvelles que je reçois de tous cotés, m'apprennent que nos batimens rentrent a force dans les ports d'Espagne et même du Nord. La chaleur est toujours ici très forte´ (Translation: “ I'm leaving in an hour for Rheims, Citizen Consul. I am very happy with the factories in this city. I am very much of this spirit. All the news that I receive from all sides report to me that our ships are accessing by force to the ports of Spain and even of the North.
