The partially printed document, bearing to the heading an attractive vignette of the French Republic & Committee of Public Safety, is an extract of the decree registry of the Committee of Public Safety. The letter is individually signed by CAMBACERES JEAN-JACQUES RÉGIS DE (1753-1824) 1st Duke of Cambacéres. French Lawyer and Statesman. Author of the Napoleonic Code, which still forms the basis of the French civil law; CARNOT LAZARE (1753-1823) French Physicist and politician. Known as the Organizer of Victory in the French Revolutionary Wars; DOUAI PHILIPPE-ANTOINE MERLIN DE (1754-1838) French Politician and Lawyer. President of the National Convention. He voted for the execution of King Louis XVI; CHAZAL JEAN PIERRE (1766-1840) French Convention Deputy. He voted for the execution of King Louis XVI; PELET JEAN (1759-1842) French Politician who opposed to Robespierre and tried to replace the guillotine by other kind of banishments; FOURCROY ANTOINE-FRANÇOIS (1755-1809) French Chemist and Doctor. A collaborator of Antoine Lavoisier. He was appointed on several occasions by Napoleon to important state posts, and DUMONT ANDRÉ (1764-1838) French Montagnard Deputy. The document being the appointment of Bouqueau as artillery guard of the arsenals. Individually and boldly signed by the seven Convention deputies at the base of the letter.
