BEATTY WILLIAM: (1773-1842) - BEATTY WILLIAM: (1773-1842) Irish surgeon with the Royal Navy who served as the ship's surgeon on board HMS Victory during the Battle of Trafalgar and witnessed the death of Admiral Horatio Nelson. A scarce A.L.S., Sir Willm. Beatty , in the third person, one page, 8vo, Royal Infirmary [Greenwich Hospital, London], 25 th September 1834, to the London wine merchants Messrs. Durand & Co. Beatty asks his correspondents to send him '1 Dozen Pints of Champeigne, 1 ½ Dozen Pints Geisenheimer, of the same quality both as those he had last; and to send him likewise 1 Pint of Courvoisier' . A couple of very light stains to the edges, only very slightly affecting the text, and with some light creasing and a few minor, small tears to the edges, and one longer, neat tear to the lower third of the page, repaired with clear tape to the verso.
