MONTEZ LOLA: (1821-1861) Irish courtesan, dancer and actress, the mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria and composer Franz Liszt. A rare A.L.S., Lola Montez, one page, 8vo, n.p. (Paris), n.d., to a gentleman, in French. Montez writes, in full, 'Comme nous partirons samedi matin de bonne heure je serais tres content si vous pouvez venir un instant a la maison dans la matinee ou la journee pour entretenir de mes ennuyeuses affaires' (Translation: 'As we will be leaving early on Saturday morning, I would be very happy if you could come to the house for a moment in the morning or during the day to talk about my boring business'). With integral address leaf in Montez's hand, the name of the recipient at 11 Rue de Choiseul somewhat indecipherable.
