GUISAN HENRI: (1874-1960) Swiss General who held the office of the General of the Swiss Armed Forces during World War II. The personal printed oblong 12mo Visiting Card of Guisan, unsigned, featuring his printed name and rank ('Le Colonel Commandant de Corps H. Guisan') to the centre, as Commandant de 1er. Corps d'armee, and address at Pully-Lausanne to the lower right corner, with five lines of text in his hand to the recto and verso, in the third person, in French, 'vous presente ses respects, ses remerciements pour votre aimable envoi dedicace et se permet d'y ajoutes ses cordiales felicitations' (Translation: 'presents his respects, his thanks for your kind dedication and allows himself to add his cordial congratulations'). Guisan has also added the place and date, Verte-Rive, 27th May 1939, in his hand. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Guisan to Professor E[ugene] Pittard in Geneva. VG
