REMIZOV ALEKSEY: (1877-1957) Russian modernist writer whose creative imagination veered to the fantastic and bizarre. Remizov was also an expert calligrapher who sought to revive this medieval art in Russia. A fine, visually attractive dark fountain pen ink signature ('Alexei Remizoff') and a few lines of text in his hand, in French and Russian, on an oblong 12mo card, Rue Las Cases (Paris), 22^nd April 1939, to Monsieur et Madame A[lexandre] Benois, announcing a happy family event.
