MAUPASSANT GUY DE: (1850-1893) French Writer. A very fine A.L.S., `Guy de Maupassant´, two pages, oblong 12mo card, 10 rue de Montchanin, Paris, n.p., n.d., on his personal printed stationery, to a lady, in French. The grey card bears to the upper left corner his black embossed initials “G M”. His correspondent having informed that she would only be free from 6h30, Maupassant states in part `… cela rend l'excursion de Poissy difficile car il y a une heure de chemin de fer et vous n'auriez plus même le temps de faire une promenade sur l'eau. Voulez-vous donc remplacer cette excursion par un diner chez moi vendredi… Nous pourrons causer à l´aise, ou faire un tour à l´exposition, après diner, si vous le préférez…´ (Translation: `…this makes the excursion to Poissy difficult as it is an hour on the railway and you wouldn't even have time for a tour on the water. Would you like to replace this excursion with a dinner at my home on Friday… We can talk at ease, or take a look at the exhibition, after dinner, if you prefer…´) Very small transparent tape at the base of the second page.
