GUS: (1911-1997) Gustave Erlich. French comic Cartoonist. Well remembered for his publications in French newspapers Le Figaro, Le Canard Enchainé, and many others. An excellent signed original watercolour, `Gus´, one page, oblong folio, drawing paper, n.p., dated 11th June 1985 in his hand, in French. Gus has drawn a funny sketch showing two East-Germany military guards, marching on the East side of the Berlin wall, with a large sign stating "Libre Circulation Obligatoire" ("Free circulation Obligatory"). To the lower white border Gus has added in bold black ink `Fabius - Fin de la visite a Berlin-Est´ ("Fabius - End of the visit to East-Berlin") referring to Laurent Fabius (1946- ) French Prime Minister 1984-86, and to his visit to Berlin in June 1985.
