CARAN D'ACHE: (1858-1909) Emmanuel Poire. French satirist and political cartoonist. An excellent series of original bold pencil drawings, unsigned, by Caran D'Ache, two pages, 4to, n.p. (Paris?), n.d. (1880s), on the attractive printed stationery of the Maison Caran D'Ache ('Fondee en 1883'). To the recto of the page Caran D'Ache has sketched a series of eight caricatures of various gentlemen, most of them elderly, the majority seated in full-length poses, and two holding top hats in their hands. To the verso appear a further series of drawings including two studies of a dog, a military officer in uniform, a lady, and several portraits. Some light age wear, VG
