ZILLE HEINRICH: (1858-1929) German illustrator and caricaturist. A.L.S., H. Zille, two pages, 8vo, Charlottenburg, 16th January 1925, to Friedrich Kroner of the Bilder-Courier, in German. Zille thanks his correspondent for their letter and confesses that he was not aware of the Bilder-Courier, continuing to state 'I would be happy to send you pictures, but I am an elderly man who looks backwards more than forwards. When I have good new pictures, I will show them to you', enquiring about the time frame for the work and the remuneration, further remarking 'You praise me too much. What little I still do, I am able to sell, though. Are you looking for a capable employee? I can recommend the drawing artist Willi Steinert…..a splendid man'. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Zille and signed ('H. Zille') by him in the return address to the verso.
