SATIE ERIK: (1866-1925) French Composer. A fine and very attractively written A.L.S., signed twice, `E.S.´ at the base of the letter and `Erik Satie´ as sender to the verso of a folding letter card, one page, small 8vo, Arcueil, 3rd July 1913, to Monsieur Roland Manuel in Paris, in French. Satie in his attractive and artistic writing states in part `Ai un bon rhume*: c´est pourquoi vous ne me voyez pas. Vous allez bien?...´ (“I have a good cold*: that is the reason why you do not see me. Are you doing well?...”) At the base of the letter Satie annotates in an amusing way, being “rhume” a cold, and “rhum” the rum, and referring to his upper asterisk `*de la Jamaique´ (“*from Jamaica”) To a postscriptum Satie states `P.S. Dites bien des choses à Mademoiselle Roux; et remerciez-la de ce qu´elle travaille les descriptions automatiques´ (“P.S. Tell kind things to Mademoiselle Roux; and thank her for working on Descriptions Automatiques”) With address leaf to the verso in Satie´s hand. Postmarked. VG
