HEPBURN AUDREY: (1929-1993) Belgian-born British actress, Academy Award winner. An unusual D.S., Audrey Hepburn, one page, 4to, n.p. (Tolochenaz, Vaud), n.d. (March/April 1981), on the printed stationery of The American Film Institute. The typed document takes the form of a letter addressed to Hepburn from Howell Begle of the AFI, dated 20th March 1981, and concerns the Fred Astaire Life Achievement Award Presentation and states, in part, 'On April 10, 1981, The American Film Institute will honor Fred Astaire with its ninth annual Life Achievement Award. The award will be presented at a dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel which will be attended by nearly two thousand members of the film community. A two-hour television program will be produced by AFI regarding the award presentation to be broadcast initially by CBS on April 18, 1981. The Institute's presentation to Mr. Astaire includes a screening of selected clips from his more important films. Among the films to be included in this screening is “Funny Face”. All required consents for the use of clips from this film are being obtained from Screen Actors Guild. Your cooperation would also be appreciated by consenting to AFI's use of clips in which you appear in its Life Achievement Award presentation to Fred Astaire'. Signed by Hepburn in blue ink at the foot of the document, granting her consent. One very slight smudge to the first letter of her signature. About EX
