MERMOZ JEAN: (1901-1936) - MERMOZ JEAN: (1901-1936) French Pioneer Aviator. A close friend of Saint Exupéry. Considered a hero not only in France but also in Brazil and Argentina. An extremely rare signed 5 x 7 photograph by Mermoz, the image depicting the French aviator outdoors, standing in a three quarter length pose. Signed in bold black ink with his name alone at the base of the photograph. Mermoz died at the early age of 34 when his Latécoère 300 Southern Cross plane crashed. Mermoz and his crew were never recovered. VG £1000-1500
