PUCCINI GIACOMO: (1858-1924) Italian Composer. A good A.L.S., `Puccini´, two pages, 8vo, Paris, 16th November 1906, on the Londres Grand Hotel of Paris printed stationery, to Ignace Spiridon, in Italian. Puccini states ` I remain few more days in Paris to supervise Butterfly rehearsals, and because am so busy I cannot ask you to come here to finish the painting portrait..´ he further mentions that he will most probably be back to Nice in March and states `..Because first of all I have to travel to New York, and end of December will return to Paris..´. Puccini concludes promising that he will be back for sure in March and sends his regards to Farconnet. A boldly written letter in purple ink. VG £500-800 Ignace Spiridon (1848- ?) Italian Portrait Painter established in Nice. Madama Butterfly (1904) one of the most acclaimed operas of Puccini, was first performed in Paris, at the Opera Comique on 28th December 1906. Henri de Farconnet (1858-1913) Director of the Casino of Nice where some lyric performances took place.
