TURTLE ISLAND - MISSION: A well-known island which used to be a pirate hideaway during the seventeenth century. L.S., Forget, one page, oblong small 8vo, Turtle Island, 8th August 1799, in French. The letter states `According to the orders given by the military Commander of the Turtle Island, citizen Dupuy is requested to take the command of the schooner La Libertine, belonging to citizen Gautier, the ship being under requisition, and will take to Port-de-Paix an American navy Captain.´ With a contemporary annotation to the verso.
