[SEPTEMBRISEUR]: French name given to the people who participated in the 2nd to 7th September 1792 massacres. Half of the prisons population of Paris, over 1200 prisoners, were executed, as well as 200 hundred nonjuring Catholic priests refusing to submit to the Civil Constitution. Rare L.S., two pages, folio, Paris, 1st of October 1795, in French The hand written document entitled Comité de Sûreté Générale, administrative police department of Paris, refers to citizen Cortet, who has been arrested for `..having taken part in the massacres of 2nd and 3rd of September 1792 at the Carmes House..´ Few extremely small tears to the right edge professionally repaired. Folded, otherwise VG £200-300 Charles François Honoré Cortet, a French Worker, was considered one of the principal prison executioners. Cortet was twice arrested but twice released.
