The book serves as a record of the first Congress of American Writers and includes contributions by Louis Aragon, John Dos Passos, Malcolm Cowley and Langston Hughes. Signed and inscribed by Hughes in dark fountain pen ink to the front free endpaper and dated New York, 13 th November 1938 in his hand. Bound in the publisher's original grey cloth and with a black title to the cover and spine. Lacking the dust jacket.
