ORPEN WILLIAM: (1878-1931) Irish portrait artist, who was also one of the most prolific official war artists during World War I. An unusual and visually attractive set of five dark fountain pen ink signatures ('William Orpen') on a printed correspondence card from the Arts Club, Dover Street, London. Orpen sends the recipient 'much love' and signs his name five times, one beneath the other, expanding in size as they descend towards the base of the card.
