Joachim apologizes for his late letter, thanks his correspondent for his warm welcome during his last stay with him and his family, and states in part `Je viens d´arriver a Londres apres un mois de travail incessant a Berlin..´ ("I have just arrived to London after a full month of non-stopping work in Berlin..") Joachim further asks Colonne to send him urgently to Manchester some belongings he is missing, saying `J´ai honte d´avouer que je suis force aujourd´hui d´écrire ces quelques lignes; il me faut ma musique, les choses de Schumann et mon concerto, partition…´ ("I am ashamed to admit that today I am forced to write these few lines; I need my music, the things of Schumann and my concerto, score..")
