[CHOPIN FREDERIC] & SAND GEORGE:

`Chopin was dangerously ill while I was stuck here…and all of this moved and broke me beyond reason. Here he is once again saved…´

[CHOPIN FREDERIC] & SAND GEORGE: Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) Polish Composer and Virtuoso Pianist. A leading composer of the romantic era, and one of the greatest piano composers ever. Chopin died at the early age of 39 of tuberculosis, & George Sand (1804-1876) French Novelist who used the pseudonym of George Sand, her real name being Amantine Dupin. Also known for her romantic affairs with artists, including Frédéric Chopin and Alfred de Musset. An excellent and lengthy rare letter referring to Chopin. A.L.S., George Sand, seven pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d. [May 1847], to Gabriel Falampin, in French. The letter bears to the heading Sand´s blind embossed initials. Sand apologizes and explains to her correspondent how busy she has been over the last two months, not being able to draft the article requested, and asking for a bit of time and patience, referring to Chopin states `car ce n'est pas une circonstance ordinaire que celle où je me trouve et je n'ai pas ma tête à moi. En outre, Chopin a été dangereusement malade pendant que j'étais clouée ici, ne pouvant quitter ma famille d'un instant, et tout cela m'a émue et brisée plus que de raison. Le voilà encore une fois sauvé…´ (“…because it is not an ordinary circumstance the one that I find myself in, and I do not have my own head in place. Besides, Chopin was dangerously ill while I was stuck here, unable to leave my family for a single moment, and all of this moved and broke me beyond reason. Here he is once again saved...”) Sand further explains in detail her decisions related to properties and legacies, commenting that she donates the hotel at Narbonne to Solange, also asking multiple questions regarding her financial affairsd and referring to the rental of an apartment belonging to M. Larac in Paris, states `Avertissez-le de suite, mais en le priant de n'en point parler à Chopin qui est malade et que l'idée d'un déplacement de la famille pourrait consterner dans ces moments-ci…´ (“Warn him immediately, but asking him not to speak of it to Chopin who is ill and the idea of the family moving could cause him consternation at this time...”) A letter of very interesting content.
