C´est un grand chagrin pour moi de ce que un engagement préventif me prive du bonheur de me rendre à votre aimable invitation pour vendredi..´ (“Madame! It is a great sadness for me that a preventive engagement deprives me of the happiness of going to your kind invitation for Friday..´ Accompanied by the original 12mo envelope in Meyerbeer´s hand. The German composer adds to the front envelope and underlines `Ci-joint un petit rouleau de musique´ (“Attached a small roll of music”) With blank integral leaf. VG
