PUCCINI GIACOMO: (1858-1924) Italian Composer. A.L.S., `Giacomo´, to a postcard, Torre del Lago, 28th June 1917, to Carlo Claussetti at Ricordi, Milan, in Italian. To the verso of an attractive postcard photograph showing a landscape image of Torre del Lago, Puccini asks for news from his correspondent `Che fai? Che apri? Che scruti? ("What are you doing? What are you on with? What are you scrutinizing?"), further, with an interesting comment referring to his composing work, states in part `Io sono presso al finale ma….. e duro - pero spero verrà come dio delibera!´ ("I am near the end although… .. it is hard - but I hope that it will come as God decides!") Puccini also asks for news from Tito Ricordi. Postmarked and stamped at Torre del Lago. VG
At the time of the present letter Puccini was composing Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi.
