DOUGLAS KIRK: (1916-2020) American actor, the recipient of an Honorary Academy Award. Signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph, an original publicity portrait of Douglas in a head and shoulders pose in costume as 'Jiggs' Casey from the American political thriller film Seven Days in May (1964). Signed in bold black ink to a clear area of the background. Together with a second signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph of Douglas in a three-quarter length pose, with a deck of playing cards in his hands, in costume as Randle Patrick McMurphy from the Broadway production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1963-64). Signed by Douglas in bold black ink to a clear area of the image. VG, 2
Kirk Douglas retained the rights to make a film version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, although was unable to find a studio willing to make it with him. Eventually he gave the rights to his son Michael, who succeeded in turning it into an Oscar winning film starring Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher.
