XIAOPING DENG: (1904-1997) Also known as Xixian. Chinese Politician and Revolutionary. Leader of the People´s Republic of China 1978-89. Xiaoping is considered the architect of the policies that opened China to foreign investment and global market, transforming the country into one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. Rare signed 5 x 5 photograph by Xiaoping, in Chinese, the bold black ink signature has been matted in black, 3.5 x 1.5, beneath a 5 x 5.5 colour photograph, unsigned, showing the Chinese leader in a head and shoulders pose, to an overall of 8 x 12 (20 cm x 30 cm). Easily removable. The matted signature being to the lower white border of a 5 x 5 photograph, hidden by the mate, showing Xiaoping standing alongside French President Giscard d´Estaing. VG
