The partially printed document, completed in pencil in an unidentified hand, is an invoice relating to a meeting of the Preobrazhensky Life-Guards Regiment, listing various food and drink, and the cost in Roubles, including breakfast, dinner, vodka, aperitifs, cups of tea, oysters and one bottle of madeira. Signed by the future Emperor at the foot, alongside a brief note authorising his aide-de-camp to allow the bill. Some light age wear, one small spindle hole to the upper left corner (repaired with sellotape to the verso, causing a light stain to the recto). About VG

 

The Preobrazhensky Life-Guards Regiment was one of the oldest and most elite guard regiments of the Imperial Russian Army, originally developed by the young by Peter the Great as one of his 'toy forces' in 1683, becoming officially formed four years later. They were disbanded in December 1917 in the wake of the October Revolution.
