LOUIS XVI: (1754-1793) King of France and Navarre 1774-1791, King of the French 1791-92. The only King of France to have been executed. A good L.S., `Louis´, a large and good example of his signature, one page, folio, Paris, 28th February 1792, to Jean Baptiste Tourteau, in French. The King orders his correspondent, the Treasurer General, to pay Sieur Marchais Huissier the amount of three thousand pounds as an extraordinary reward. Countersigned at the base. Paper with J. Kool watermark. Six months after the present letter was signed by King Louis XVI, he was suspended and arrested. Overall age wear, mostly to edges with few small tears to the right edge. G
