LEESE OLIVER: (1894-1978) British Lieutenant-General who commanded the XXX Corps in North Africa and Sicily, serving under General B. L. Montgomery, before going on to command the Eighth Army in the Italian Campaign throughout most of 1944. Vintage signed 6.5 x 4.5 photograph of Leese seated in a half-length pose, wearing his uniform, at his desk and with a pen in one hand. Signed ('Oliver Leese, Lt. General') in blue ink to a light area of the background. With Leese's typed date of birth to the upper white border and some longer typed biographical details to the verso (causing very minor indentations to the image) and some light traces of former mounting to the verso, otherwise VG
