MONTGOMERY B. L.: (1887-1976) British Field Marshal of World War II. A.L.S., Montgomery of Alamein, two pages, 8vo, Westminster Gardens, Marsham Street, London, 13th August 1947, to Lady Anderson. Montgomery thanks his correspondent for her letter and continues 'Smuts' letter looks very interesting; I find some difficulty in deciphering his handwriting and have not got it all yet. But I will do so.', further remarking that he cannot dine on 21st August and expressing his pleasure that she is recovered from an illness, before concluding 'I had a wonderful tour in Australia and New Zealand and I hope it did good'.
