SANGER MARGARET: (1879-1966) American birth control activist & sex educator. A.L.S., Margaret Sanger, two pages, slim 4to, New York, 10th January n.y., to Mrs. Phelps. Sanger informs her correspondent that she had sent her a telegram regarding the qualifications of her daughter, explaining 'We have a vacancy in our Wash[ington DC] office which needs a competent capable person & I liked your girl so much that I that (sic) of her for the job & wired you at once', further remarking 'Of course as we pay such ridiculously small salaries in this work it may not be attractive or worth her considering it at all' and concluding by reminding her of the addresses of the clinic and federal office in New York. Accompanied by various newspaper clippings and a magazine article etc. relating to Sanger and her work with birth control.
