`Madame de Sade... whose feelings are very well known to me... sure of her loyalty´

SADE MARQUIS DE: (1740-1814) French Writer, Nobleman and Revolutionary Politician. Best-known for his erotic works and sexual fantasies with violence and lack of morality. Author of The 120 Days of Sodom. Sade spent thirty-two years of his life imprisoned and most of his works were written while incarcerated. The word sadism was coined from his name. Rare A.L.S., `Sade´, one page, 4to, n.p., 14th March [1810], to Mr. Corbin, notary, in French. Sade refers to his spouse, stating `C´est a tort, Monsieur, que M. Després s´est présenté chez vous pour s´opposer a la délivrance d´une seconde….. a Madame de Sade mon épouse; je n´ai nulle raison pour m´opposer a cette demande tel que soit l´usage que veuille faire Madame de Sade dont les sentiments me sont trop bien connus pour avoir  rien a appréhender sûr de sa loyauté..´ (“He did so wrongly, Sir, when Mr. Després came to you to oppose the issuance of a second….. to Madame de Sade, my wife; I have no reason to be against this request such as the use that Madame de Sade wants to make, and whose feelings are very well known to me to have anything to apprehend, sure of her loyalty…”) A letter of interesting content referring to the close and loyal relationship between Sade and his wife. With blank integral leaf. With very slightly trimmed edges and a small pinhole not affecting the text or signature. G
