PUCCINI GIACOMO: (1858-1924) Italian Composer. A very interesting A.L.S., G. Puccini, one page, 8vo, Paris, 13th October 1903, on the “Theatre National de l´Opera Comique” printed stationery, to Giulio Ricordi, in Italian. Puccini sends this warm letter to Ricordi, from Paris, while the premiere in Paris of his opera Tosca is being performed, stating in part `Caro Sig. Giulio, le scrivo da un gabinettino durante il 1´atto (siamo al Duetto Scarpia Tosca)´ (“Dear Signore Giulio, I write to you from a small office during the first act (we are now at the duet Scarpia Tosca)”) Further, Puccini deeply thanks Ricordi, saying `Il mio pensiero e lei caro Sig. Giulio mio e il mio cuore e pieno di riconoscenza per chi mi ha messo a questo punto! Spero che la rappresentazione sia di nostra soddisfazione..´(“My thoughts are with you my dear Mr. Giulio and my heart is full of gratitude for having put me at this point! I hope the performance is to our satisfaction..”) With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope, Opera Comique printed stationery, addressed in Puccini´s hand, postmarked and stamped. G
Giulio Ricordi (1840-1912) Italian Editor and Musician. His grandfather Giovanni founded the music publishing house Casa Ricordi. His father Tito run the company until his death in 1888, when Giulio became the head of the company.
