[JAPAN]: An excellent selection of Autograph Statements signed by a variety of famous Japanese personalities, beneath an original pen and ink drawing by the German-Swiss artist Robert Kastor (4), the well executed works depicting each Japanese personality in head and shoulders poses, each one page, large folio, various places and dates, including ITO HIROBUMI (1841-1909) Also known as Hirofumi Hakubun and Shunsuke. Japanese Statesman, four times Prime Minister of Japan from 1885 to 1901. Samurai of Choshu domain. Resident General of Korea. Assassinated by Korean nationalist. Signed `Hirobumi Ito´ 1901; Komura Jutaro (1855-1911) Japanese Statesman in Meiji period; Motono Ichiro (1862-1918) Japanese Statesman and Diplomat in Meiji period; Matsui Keishiro (1868-1946) Japanese Statesman and Diplomat. Keishiro states `Truth and Justice always triumph´ 1920; Norikatsu Yasuma Secretary of the League of Nations Association of Japan. Statement in English and Japanese characters, 1928; Kenkichi Yoshizavva Ambassor of Japan to France. Statement in French, Representative to the League of Nations Council, Kengo Mori Lengthy statement in French and Japanese, and Mineikiro Adatchi (1870-1934) President of the Permanent Court of International Justice. A very attractive statement. VG, 8 £100-150 Some of the statements were prepared for publication in the Pax Mundi book; an anthology of sentiments on peace published in Switzerland by the World League for Peace. Between 1925 and 1932 many notable persons from around the world were asked to comment on the prospects of world peace and the volume included contributions from Marie Curie, Guglielmo Marconi, Albert Einstein, Rabindranath Tagore and many others.
