CAMBACERES JEAN JACQUES DE: (1753-1824) French Noble, Lawyer and Statesman during the French Revolution and French Empire. Co-Author of the Napoleonic code, which still is at the base of the French and many other countries civil law. L.S., Cambaceres, two pages, 4to, Paris, 18th February 1794, to the National Agent in charge of the Chateaubriand district, in French. Cambaceres in his capacity as head member of the Citizens Legislative Committee respond to two requests regarding some belongings in deposit with no inheritors and to the demolition of the pigeonholes and remind the duty of the authorities to respect the law. Also signed beneath Cambaceres´ signature by three other members of the Legislative Committee, comprising Bézard, Oudot and Philippe Antoine Merlin de Douai (1754-1838). Very small, minor overall foxing, otherwise VG £80-100
