MITCHELL MARGARET: (1900-1949) American Author, Pulitzer Prize winner for her novel Gone With The Wind (1937). T.L.S., Margaret Mitchell Marsh, one page, 4to, Atlanta, Georgia, 16th December 1942, on her personal printed stationery, to Mrs. Busey. Mitchell thanks her correspondent for her gift stating `The fruit cake was waiting for me when I arrived home and with it your beautiful Christmas card with the note. We are going to have cake for dessert tonight and I can tell by the smell that it will certainly taste good´ further referring to rations during war time `..I hope you did not use too much of your sugar ration. These days generosity cannot reach a higher peak than the use of sugar - or gas - for a friend, so my appreciation to you both is double.´ VG £400-600
