Dumas thanks his correspondent for the `charming verses and excellent poetic turns´ received and states `I am ready for dinner with you whenever you order so, but there is another story now, my father is arriving and I wrote him a letter telling him to send me an urgent telegraphic message from Marseille so I can be ready waiting for him. Therefore I find myself now converted into a son as my only status..´ Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Dumas. VG £100-120. Joseph Autran (1813-1877) French Poet and Playwright, a close friend of Alexandre Dumas. Autran was several times candidate to the French Academy, although his applications failed. He was considered the catholic candidate facing the liberal one. Finally, in 1868, he was appointed French ''Académicien'', or ''Inmortal'' as known in France.
