Vieuxtemps apologizes for the bad news he has to report to his correspondent and states in part `I met Monsieur Avuillon, Director of the Monnaie in Brussels. I forwarded to him your proposal. Although I tried my best to convince him, he refused to accept any agreement of any kind and to accept any new project of new authors…. His reasons being that he heads a first rank scene, not created to make tests or try new works but to perform the accepted and known master names. It is therefore always the same story, the same responses. I tried to make him understand that in order to be known and accepted you have at least to get the opportunity to be listened to…´ further referring to a friend of both, and to his next future plans.
