CHRISTINA OF LORRAINE: (1565-1637) Grand Duchess of Tuscany 1589-1609 as spouse of Ferdinand I Grand Duke of Tuscany. She served as Regent of Tuscany 1621-28. Granddaughter of Queen Catherine de´Medici and mother of Grand Duke Cosimo II de´Medici. L.S., `V[ost]ra buona amica Christ[i]na G[ran] D[uches]sa, one page, Pisa, 7th February 1599, to Bartolini Rinoreini in Siena, in Italian. The Grand Duchess states `Vi ringratio della diligenza di ritrovarmi le tole, ma perche quella del guibbone e falsa vorrei che m´avvisasse siquella della sottana e falsa o buona ancora et avvisatemi il prezzo di ogni cosa. Che Dio vi guardi´ (“I thank you for the diligence in finding my tole, but because that of the guibbone is false, I would like you to warn me if that of the petticoat is false or good again and tell me the price of everything. May God look at you´ With address leaf, bearing remnants of a former seal. Paper with watermark. Overall age wear and creasing, with few small tears to edges and very small holes. G
