FRANK OTTO: (1889-1980) German father of Anne Frank, the sole member of his family to survive the Holocaust. Frank published his daughter's diary in 1947. T.L.S., Otto Frank, one page, 4to, Birsfelden, Switzerland, 17th December 1979, to Dr. Anna Sandor, in Dutch. Frank thanks his correspondent for her detailed and interesting letter and continues 'I was surprised to hear after your visit to Israel your Jewish identity has been discovered, although I suppose most Russian Jews who have settled in Israel will too', further writing 'Your plan to write a booklet about your Hungarian friends and acquaintances and their Jewish origin seems fine to me and it will certainly find interest in the public. I myself would like to read it as soon as it comes out…..As for your request to write a preface to your booklet, I must disappoint you. I am now over 90 years old and my health is not good any more. I had to stop almost all my activities and it would be too difficult for me to write a piece for you'. One very small, minor stain, not affecting the text or signature, VG
