CASSATT MARY: (1844-1926) American Painter, one of 'Les Trois Grandes Dames' of Impressionism. A.L.S., `Mary Cassatt´, two pages, 8vo, n.p., 14th September, n.y., on the Mesnil-Beaufresne printed stationery, to art critic Achille Segard, in French. Cassatt writes to her biographer regarding one of her paintings, and states in part `…allow the person sent by the Durand-Ruel Gallery to take my painting in your house. I would like to finish what I have to do during my stay here where I have the models and the place to work and October would be a little late if I leave early to the south of France." EX
Paul Durand-Ruel (1831-1922) French Art Dealer. Probably the most important commercial advocate of impressionists, providing monetary support to his painters and solo-exhibitions. He counted Degas, Monet, Manet and Renoir among his clients.
