VERDI GIUSEPPE: (1813-1901) Italian Composer. Autograph 5.5 x 3.5 envelope addressed to the front in his hand to `Cav. Angiolo Dott. Carrara, Borgo St. Donnino´ Together with a fine 2.5 x 4.5 carte-de-visite photograph, unsigned, the sepia Disderi image showing a young Verdi seated in a formal full-length pose. Very small overall age wear, with one tear to the envelope not affecting the text. G, 2 €400 - 500
LISZT FRANZ: (1811-1886) Austrian-Hungarian Composer. A.L.S., F. Liszt, one page, 8vo, n.p., 1st April 1886, to an unidentified 'benevolent friend', in French. Liszt writes, in full, 'Madame de Memkaesy is spending twelve days or so in London: upon her return pay her a visit, and I will let her know ahead of time'. With blank integral leaf (slight traces of former mounting to the verso). Some very light uniform age toning, otherwise VG
Provenance: Liszt's letter is accompanied by an English translation on a sheet of printed stationery from the New York department store of B. Altman & Co.
