GRAFTON DUKE OF: (1735-1811) British Prime Minister 1768-1770. A scarce A.L.S., Grafton, two pages, 4to, Euston [Hall, Suffolk], 5th November 1787, to William Birch. Grafton announces that he has acquired a small farm at a cost of £1200, continuing 'Mr. Smyth an attorney of character at Northampton has the writings delivered to him to arrange for Mrs. Vincent: my Steward writes me word that Mr. Smith has them ready, as I have desired that they might be sent up to you to inspect, as to lay them before Mr. Phipps of Lincoln's Inn for his opinion on the title' and concluding by remarking 'Be so good to get the opinion without any unnecessary delay'. Three small traces of former mounting to the right edge of the second page, only very slightly affecting one word of text, and with some light overall age wear, about VG
