SZAPOSZNIKOW EUGENIUSZ: (1917-1991) Polish fighter ace of World War II who participated in the Battle of Britain. A portion of a D.S., E Szaposznikow, one page, oblong 8vo, n.p., n.d. (August 1940). The typed document, evidently clipped from a combat report, states, in part, 'E[nemy]/A[ircraft] were in very tight formation of vics of three, line astern. The fighters were above and behind. To port I saw 3 Me 109s. I chose that most to port and fired at him before he saw me. He rolled and dived with me copying his movements. I fired again as he straightened up. He rolled on to his back and fell vertically trailing clouds of smoke'. Some extremely minor, light creasing, and one small tear to the upper right corner, VG The text relates to the first of Szaposznikow's eight victories during the Battle of Britain.
