COCTEAU JEAN: (1889-1963) French Writer, Playwright, Artist, Designer & Filmmaker. An excellent, large vintage signed and inscribed 10.5 x 14.5 photograph by Cocteau, the image depicting him in a youthful head and shoulders pose. Photograph by Manuel Frères of Paris and bearing their printed credit to the lower photographer's mount. Signed by Cocteau in fountain pen ink to a clear area of the image, 'Jean Cocteau, Salue à l'Université de Washington', further adding an attractive image of a five-pointed star in his hand. Attractively framed and glazed in a plain wooden frame. VG Henri Manuel (1874-1947) French photographer who, with his brothers Gaston and Lucien, created the largest photographic studio in Paris, specialising in portrait photography.
