REINHARDT MAX & WERFEL FRANZ: Three signed clipped 12mo pieces, one inscribed, and carefully affixed to an 8.5 x 10.5 page (21,5 x 27 cm) removed from an autograph album. Max Reinhardt (1873-1943) Austrian-born American Actor and Director. Signed clipped 12mo piece `Max Reinhardt´ in bold black ink, also signed above `Franz Werfel´ by Franz Werfel (1890-1945) Austrian Novelist and Playwright. Werfel married in 1929 the eleven years older Alma Mahler, widow of Gustav Mahler and after divorcing from Walter Gropius. Most of Werfel´s plays were produced by Max Reinhardt. Together with Helene Thimig (1889-1974) Austrian Actress and wife of Max Reinhardt. Signed 12mo clipped piece in bold black ink with her name alone. Also including Wilhelm Falta (1875-1950) Austrian doctor. Signed and inscribed 12mo piece in bold blue ink. Dated in Vienna, August 1934. Small overall age wear with a very small stain to the lower edge, otherwise G Provenance: The present page originates from the personal autograph album of Marina Chaliapin (1912-2009), the daughter of Russian opera singer Feodor Chaliapin (1873-1938), widely regarded as one of the finest bass singers of the 20th century, and his mistress Marina Petsold (1882-1964) who became the singer's second wife in 1927. Chaliapin's daughter was married to Luigi Freddi (1895-1977) the Italian journalist and politician who edited the journal Il Popolo d'Italia and who was also hugely influential in Italian political cinema in the second half of the 1930s and beginning of the 1940s
