GUINNESS ALEC: (1914-2000) English Actor, Academy Award winner. Guinness's personal working script for the stage production of Wise Child by Simon Gray, the 4to printed script bearing the address of the production company Michael Codron Ltd to the title page and also bearing the ownership signature ('Alec Guinness') of the actor to the head of the title page, with his London address at Ennismore Garden Mews added in his hand beneath, and further initialled ('A.G.') in his hand to the orange front cover paper wrapper. Guinness has made extensive underscores in various coloured inks to the dialogue on almost every page and also made numerous alterations and corrections to the text. The final blank page of the script is filled with various abstract doodles by Guinness in blue and black inks and the inside back cover bears several notes in the actor's hand relating to various individuals including his wife, Merula. Rare in this form. Some light overall age wear, about VG Provenance: The script was gifted by Guinness to David Denyer, a theatrical dresser in London's West End. Wise Child was first staged at Wyndham's Theatre in London on 10th October 1967 with Guinness playing the role of Mrs. Artminster. Directed by John Dexter, the other cast members comprised Gordon Jackson (Mr. Booker), Simon Ward (Jerry) and Cleo Sylvestre (Janice).
