On the printed stationery of Bibliotheque Charpentier Zola states `My dear friend, I came to shake your hand. We are counting on you for Thursday evening, so please say to Madame Charpentier, your forgetful spouse, to respond a yes to my wife, so the matter is properly understood.´ Beneath his signature, Zola adds a post-scriptum saying `We will go to Daudet´s home on Wednesday´.
