PORTER COLE: (1891-1964) American Composer and Songwriter. T.L.S., Cole, one page, 4to, Los Angeles, California, 8th May 1954, to Cy Feuer of Feuer and Martin Productions in New York. Porter sends an answer (no longer present) to Oliver Messel and states that he will not talk to Bob Alton again until Feuer gives 'the ''go'' signal', further writing 'This sounds like very good news about Shirl Conway. I only pray that she can really belt out her numbers', also remarking that he was interested to read about Henry Lascoe and Leon Belasco, and concluding 'I have finished the new lyric to the former IF WE EVER GET OUT OF JAIL and I hope when you hear it you will approve. It is definitely saccharine and when I go over it I feel slightly sick!'. Together with an original unsigned printed folio programme for a performance of Silk Stockings in New York, 1955, directed by Cy Feuer and starring Hildegarde Neff and Don Ameche as well as Leon Belasco and Henry Lascoe. A letter of good content. One staple to the upper edge of the letter, VG
