PIAF EDITH: (1915-1963) French Singer. D.S., Edith Piaf, two pages, 4to, Paris, 22nd February 1963, in French. The typed document being a contract for a Piaf´s performances tour in Germany. The contract establishes ten clauses referring to the musicians that will accompany Piaf, the publicity agreement with German television, specifying that Piaf will be the one and only star, piano required, etc.. The seventh clause states that Theo Sarapo will conclude the first part of the show, and that his name will be entitled in large letters on adverts. Signed at the base by Piaf in bold blue ink. The second page of the typed contract, on the printed stationery of the Parisian Office for Spectacles, Paris, establishes the rooms hotels which will be required during the tour. A first group with members of Piaf´s group which will stay at the same hotel than Piaf, and a second group which will be staying at a second category hotel. The contract also establishes the kind of rooms and beds required, "Nice room - normal room - Not too expensive - Or nearby hotel". The best room being reserved for Piaf and Sarapo with large bed and two bathrooms. One of the last contracts signed by Piaf who would die that same year. Small overall age wear, with a staple to the upper left corner and few small tears to the folds, none affecting the text or signature. G £300-400
