A.L.S., Maria, four pages, 8vo, n.p., 29th May 1876, to her mother, Louise of Hesse-Kassel. The Princess writes a warm, social letter, expressing her feeling of comfort from the caring concern shown towards her ('Yet I thank God that he is maintaining my strength and courage'), further providing precise details of her health and diet, remarking 'God the Almighty will help….the general care and concern, from the upper classes to the lower ones, is sublime, from the whole country. That is the most beautiful reward for a silent, modest life', and also making references to various family members, adding that she is pleased with the news from London although asking why the Queen will travel to Gemunden via Paris.
